Day 1 — Lisbon → Mafra → Óbidos → Alcobaça → Nazaré → Batalha — overnight near Fátima area Morning • Depart Lisbon early (07:30). First stop Palácio Nacional de Mafra (guided group visit, 60–75 min). (coach parking / easy group entry). Late morning → lunch in Óbidos (set menu at a typical taverna inside the walls — cod dishes, regional soups). Short walk through the walled town (30–45 min). Afternoon → Alcobaça Monastery (guided visit, 45–60 min) then Nazaré viewpoint & seafront (seafood tasting group seafood menu). Late afternoon visit Mosteiro da Batalha (guided). Evening → Overnight in Fátima / Batalha area
Day 2 — Fátima → Tomar → Coimbra — overnight Coimbra Morning • Fátima shrine visit (outdoor processional areas + Basilica). Short reflection time and group photo. Mid-morning → drive to Tomar: Convent of Christ (UNESCO) guided visit — important for medieval Templar history. Lunch in Tomar: typical bacalhau or regional meat dishes at a restaurant set up for groups. Afternoon → Drive to Coimbra guided visit to University of Coimbra (Joanina Library) + Sé Velha. Evening → Overnight in Coimbra at a large hotel with group dining
Day 3 — Coimbra → Porto (via Aveiro short stop) — overnight Porto Morning • Short stop in Aveiro (moliceiro boats & soft egg-based sweets). Late morning arrival in Porto: walking tour Ribeira, São Bento, Clerigos (group pace). Lunch: riverside restaurant with a group menu (grilled fish, northern stews, francesinha option for brave eaters). Afternoon → cross to Vila Nova de Gaia for a Port wine lodge visit & tasting (group tasting at a large lodge / cellar). For the Douro section I recommend a full winery visit later (see Day 6). Evening → Overnight in Porto
Day 4 — Porto → Minho (Braga, Guimarães, Viana do Castelo) — overnight Braga/Guimarães area Morning • Braga: Bom Jesus do Monte staircase (funicular/steps) + Braga Cathedral. Lunch: traditional northern cuisine (bacalhau à Braga, roast kid, local pastries) at a group-friendly restaurant. Afternoon → Guimarães (medieval centre & Guimarães Castle / Ducal Palace) short guided tour. If time, Viana do Castelo viewpoint on the coast. Evening → Overnight in Braga / Guimarães
Day 5 — Minho → Douro (Régua / Pinhão) — overnight Douro (Pinhão or Peso da Régua) Morning • Drive into the Douro Valley (scenic). Stop at viewpoints (miradouros) en route. Lunch & tasting at a Douro quinta that accepts groups — Quinta do Seixo (Sandeman) is an excellent example that offers winery tours + lunch + tasting (they run group bookings and lunches). Book the 3-hour visit + lunch package for the whole group. Sogrape+1 Afternoon → optional short river cruise (if available for groups) or relax at the quinta. Evening → Overnight at a large Douro hotel or quinta-hotel (quintas with many rooms or hotels in Peso da Régua that cater to groups). Dinner at hotel/quinta.
Day 6 — Douro → Trás-os-Montes (Vila Real → Bragança area) — overnight Trás-os-Montes region Morning • Short scenic transfer across Douro Superior towards Trás-os-Montes. Visit local viewpoints, small villages and typical smoke-cured meats tasting (regional fumeiro). Lunch in a traditional taberna with group set menu (wild game or regional smoked meats). Afternoon → arrival to your base in Trás-os-Montes (Vila Real / Bragança) — short castle/old town visits. Evening → Overnight in a group-friendly hotel in the region (many district hotels handle coach groups). Dinner at hotel.
Day 7 — Trás-os-Montes → Serra da Estrela (mountain landscapes) — overnight Serra da Estrela Morning • Drive to Serra da Estrela (stunning mountain landscapes). Stop in mountain villages (Manteigas / Torre viewpoint). Lunch: mountain cuisine (cheeses — Queijo da Serra, lamb/stew) at a mountain hotel/restaurant capable of handling groups. Afternoon → short scenic walks, visit viewpoints. Evening → Overnight at a large mountain hotel or Pousada
Day 8 — Serra da Estrela → Évora (Alentejo) — overnight Évora Long transfer south (breaks en route). Midday arrival in Évora (UNESCO): Roman Temple, Cathedral, Chapel of Bones. Lunch: typical Alentejo menu (açorda, porco preto, migas) in a restaurant with group menus in Évora’s historic centre. Afternoon → guided walk of Évora. Evening → Overnight at a large hotel / pousada in Évora
Day 9 — Évora → Algarve (Lagos → Sagres → Cabo de São Vicente) — overnight Lagos / Sagres Morning • Drive south to Lagos: short town & coastline visit. Lunch: seaside group lunch with typical Algarve seafood (grilled fish cataplana) at a large Lagos hotel restaurant (Vila Galé Lagos is built to serve groups). Vila Galé Afternoon → Sagres & Cabo de São Vicente (dramatic cliffs and lighthouse). Photos and short walk. Evening → Overnight in Sagres or Lagos
Day 10 — Lagos/Sagres → Arrábida → Azeitão → Lisbon (finish) Morning • Early departure north to Arrábida Natural Park: stop at the scenic viewpoints and a short coastal walk (Sesimbra/Portinho da Arrábida). Lunch in Azeitão: visit José Maria da Fonseca wine house / Casa Museu for a group tasting and guided visit — followed by a typical Setúbal/Azeitão lunch (cheese, fish, local wines).
